You can overwrite the keys with the following commands, or skip this step and go to configuring ssh keys to reuse these keys. create your ssh keys with the ssh-keygen command from the bash prompt. this will create a 2048-bit rsa key for use with ssh.. Whether you use git or mercurial, use this section to generate an ssh key using sourcetree. when you create an ssh key with sourcetree, you can save the public and private key wherever you want locally. you may want to create an ssh directory when you do, so that you can refer to your ssh keys whenever you need them.. It actually helps using a ssh key with no pass phrase or using the ssh-agent. so my assumption is that there is no "password input" and the update fails. this comment has been minimized..
A rather unusual situation perhaps, but i want to specify a private ssh-key to use when executing a shell (git) command from the local computer.. Add the new public key file to github. go to the settings page for your github account. on the ssh and gpg keys, click new ssh key. copy the contents of ~/.ssh/second_key_rsa.pub to your clipboard. paste it in the key box, and save it by clicking the add ssh key button. very important caveat. With ssh keys, you can connect to github without supplying your username or password at each visit. checking for existing ssh keys. before you generate an ssh key, you can check to see if you have any existing ssh keys. generating a new ssh key and adding it to the ssh-agent.
